We were so lucky that we knew about villa rentals and Travel Keys from our parents so when it came to plan our honeymoon we knew we didn't want a resort. It was so wonderful to have our own private villa with all of the space, views and our own private pool. Words can't really express what a wonderful experience it was and we've encouraged several friends to try a villa as opposed to a resort. Our only "challenge" was driving on the island but we got used it after one day...Or I should say my husband got used to it. I decided to leave the driving to him and sit back and enjoy the spectacular scenery. The island is really beautiful and it's worth packing some picnics and doing some hiking and definitely visiting all of the different beaches. You won't really need to bring a lot of clothes...Maybe just some nice outfits for when you go out to dinner but other than that it's very casual during the day and you'll spend most of your days at the beach or at the pool at the villa. The other nice thing about renting your own home is that you can do some grocery shopping at the local markets and enjoy coffee and breakfast in your swimsuit by your own private pool. Maybe have some fresh bakery goods and it's a meal. We had each only traveled to a few other islands but really felt that St. Barts was the most special island we'd visited. I'm sure a lot of that is because it was our honeymoon but it's, also, because it's a small island that's really pretty and clean. It was a perfect honeymoon!
